Throughout history, we have all wrestled with not only what God expects of us, but how we meet those expectations. We’ve all tried in vain to do it our way, and finally on the verge of total exhaustion we often throw in the towel.
Jesus desires only what is good for us. For example, He has a definition of what it means to be faithful to Him and to those we love. With that in mind, “Find Us Faithful” is the theme of this year’s Leadership Conference. But what does faithful actually mean? The Merriam-Webster dictionary says it’s "a steadfast affection or allegiance; firm in adherence to promises; unswerving determination to adhere to a cause or purpose."
By these definitions, being faithful is an extraordinary goal for every man and woman. Unfortunately, it is a character trait that now resides on the endangered species list. To be found faithful by Jesus Christ, one must be living in His presence and committed to running the race not only for the prize. The men that have gone before us in CBMC and to those who will come behind us, we must honor their commitments to our ministry by leaving a heritage of faithfulness that can only be passed on through living godly lives.
How do we do that? That is what this year’s conference will unpack. We will begin by trumpeting the rich contributions of our current leaders by recognizing them in a most special way. Come and be a part of the timeless messages each will share. If you are ever going to attend a leadership conference, we ask that you seriously consider being at this one. Organizations cannot exist and prosper without men like you. This will certainly be a night to remember.
The 2010 conference will be keynoted by Walter McCord, ThM; assistant professor at Moody Graduate School in Chicago. McCord has led 14 tours to Israel, five to Jordan and one to Turkey & Greece (pictured below), and on every tour, he preaches on the saving grace of Jesus Christ. Walt’s style is a comfortable blend of mature Bible teaching and a good ‘ol down-home sense of humor. McCord will focus his engaging messages on what the Bible says about reaching the rarified air of being found faithful by our Savior. He will be accompanied to Asheville by his wife, Brenda, who is also a gifted Christian speaker.
Our President, Lee Truax, will bless each person in attendance with a first person account of how ‘being faithful’ has led him from the back roads of Massachusetts and New Hampshire to the thriving metropolis of Chattanooga. This story of prayer, waiting on God, following directions and seizing the moment is a tremendous story and not to be missed.
Men, there are no words to describe the excitement that we feel as we begin to ramp up for our Leadership Conference. This is about leaving footprints that will inspire others to fully engage CBMC. Our younger leaders who are coming want to know that after all our hopes and dreams have come and gone, did we leave them a track to run on.
May the clues that they discover and the memories they uncover this year at The Cove become a blinding light that draws them closer and closer to a ministry that has changed hundreds and thousands of lives.
We don’t just want you to attend… the next generation of leaders is counting on you being here.
